Data Deletion Instructions for Speako Chat

How to Request Data Deletion

At Speako Chat, we respect your right to privacy and control over your personal data. You can request deletion of your data at any time.


Method 1: Delete Your Account (Recommended)

Steps to Delete Your Account:

  1. Log in to your Speako Chat account at https://speako.chat
  2. Go to Settings (click your profile icon → Settings)
  3. Navigate to Account Settings
  4. Scroll to the bottom and click "Delete Account"
  5. Confirm your decision by entering your password
  6. Click "Permanently Delete My Account"

What Happens When You Delete Your Account:

  • Your profile will be immediately deactivated
  • Your personal information will be permanently deleted within 30 days
  • Your messages will be removed from conversations
  • Your uploaded media will be deleted
  • Your username will become available for others to use
  • You will be logged out of all devices

Data Retention After Account Deletion:

  • Immediately Deleted: Profile information, settings, preferences
  • Deleted within 7 days: Chat messages, media files
  • Deleted within 30 days: Backups, logs, analytics data
  • Retained: Aggregated, anonymized data for analytics (no personally identifiable information)
  • Retained as required by law: Data needed for legal compliance (e.g., financial records if applicable)

Method 2: Email Data Deletion Request

If you cannot access your account or prefer email contact:

Email Us At:

admin@speako.chat or support@speako.chat

Include in Your Request:

  1. Subject Line: "Data Deletion Request Speako Chat"
  2. Your Full Name
  3. Email Address associated with your account
  4. Username on Speako Chat
  5. Specific data you want deleted (or "all personal data")
  6. Reason for deletion (optional)

Example Email Template:

Subject: Data Deletion Request Speako Chat Dear Speako Chat Team, I am requesting the deletion of my personal data from Speako Chat. Account Details: Name: [Your Name] Email: [Your Email] Username: [Your Username] I request the deletion of: [All personal data / Specific data] Reason: [Optional Your reason] Please confirm when this has been completed. Thank you, [Your Name]


Method 3: Social Login Data Deletion

If you signed up using a social login provider (Facebook, Google, etc.), you may also request data deletion through that platform:

Facebook Users:

  1. Go to Facebook Settings → Apps and Websites
  2. Find "Speako Chat"
  3. Click "Remove"
  4. This removes the connection, but to delete data from Speako, use Method 1 or 2 above

Google Users:

  1. Go to Google Account → Security → Third-party apps with account access
  2. Find "Speako Chat"
  3. Click "Remove Access"
  4. To delete data from Speako, use Method 1 or 2 above

Other Providers:

Similar steps apply for LinkedIn, Discord, Telegram, TwitchTV, and Spotify. Removing app access disconnects the integration but does not automatically delete data from Speako Chat.


What Data Can Be Deleted

Personal Information:

  • Email address
  • Username
  • Password
  • Profile picture and bio
  • Date of birth
  • Phone number (if provided)

Activity Data:

  • Chat messages (private and group)
  • Voice and video call records
  • Uploaded files and media
  • Friend lists and connections
  • Settings and preferences

Usage Data:

  • Login history
  • Device information
  • IP addresses
  • Usage analytics

Social Login Data:

  • Information received from Facebook, Google, LinkedIn, Discord, Telegram, TwitchTV, Spotify

Data That Cannot Be Deleted

Some data must be retained for legal, security, or operational reasons:

  • Anonymized Analytics: Aggregate, non-personally identifiable data used for statistics
  • Legal Compliance: Data required by law (e.g., transaction records, abuse reports)
  • Security Logs: Records of security incidents or Terms of Service violations
  • Backup Systems: Data in automated backups (deleted within 30 days)

Response Time

  • Account Deletion: Immediate deactivation, full deletion within 30 days
  • Email Requests: We respond within 5 business days
  • Data Deletion Completion: Fully deleted within 30 days of request
  • Confirmation: We will send you an email confirmation when deletion is complete

Your Rights

Under various privacy laws (GDPR, CCPA, etc.), you have the right to:

  • Access your data (request a copy)
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Delete your data (right to be forgotten)
  • Restrict processing of your data
  • Object to certain data uses
  • Port your data to another service

To exercise these rights, contact us using the methods above.


Special Considerations

Minor's Data:

If you are a parent or guardian requesting deletion of a child's data, please include:

  • Proof of guardianship
  • The child's account information
  • Your contact details

Deceased User Accounts:

Family members may request account closure by providing:

  • Death certificate
  • Proof of relationship
  • Account information

Legal Requests:

If you're requesting data deletion due to a legal matter, please specify and provide relevant documentation.
